Laxmi Narayan Meena (born [3] is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the West Bengal cadre.[1]

[edit]Laxmi Narayan Meena was born on 10 June 1970 in the Bahadurpur village in the Rani tehsil of Alwar, Rajasthan.[3] He joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) as a part of the 1998 batch.[4]
Meena served as the superintendent of the Birbhum district from 26 November 2007 to 7 August 2009.[5] He also served as the Superintendent of police at the South 24 Parganas district, during which he successfully conducted the Gangasagar Mela multiple times, ensuring smooth and safe conduct of the large-scale pilgrimage event.[6]
On 27 June 2014, Meena was transferred to the position of the Deputy inspector general of police (DIG) in Burdwan.[7] He later served as the joint commissioner of the Kolkata Police.[8] He was appointed as the commissioner of police in Asansol, Durgapur from 8 June 2016.[9][10]
On 29 May 2019, he was made the commissioner of police in Bidhannagar.[11] On 9 July 2020, Meena was transferred to the position of the inspector-general of police (IGP) of the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID).[12] From here, he was transferred to the position of additional police commissioner of the Kolkata Police on 9 November 2020.[13][14]
After serving as the special commissioner of the Kolkata Police, he succeeded Siddh Nath Gupta as the new commissioner of Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate.[15]
On 3 August 2023, Meena was appointed the Additional Deputy General (ADG) and Inspector-general (IG) at the Correctional Services department of the government of West Bengal.[4]
Personal life
[edit]Laxmi Narayan Meena is married to Kirti Meena and lives with his two daughters in New Town, Kolkata. In 2024, Meena was awarded the Sahitya Sevi Samman in Kolkata for his contribution to Hindi literature.[16]
