Keshan (Kurdish: Keşan) is a small village located in Batifa District of Duhok Governorate, within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It lies near the mountainous border area between Iraq and Turkey.

The village was among several affected by Turkey's 2020 “Claw‑Tiger” military operation, which led to the evacuation of residents due to cross-border bombardments.[1]

Keshan is situated at the coordinates: 37.239596°N, 43.022193°E. The area is mountainous and forested, surrounded by other small villages in Batifa District.

Events

Due to ongoing military operations by Turkey targeting PKK positions in the border regions of Duhok Governorate, Keshan village has experienced airstrikes and security concerns. Reports have indicated that such attacks have led to the displacement of civilians in the area.
