Heidrick & Struggles International Incorporated is an international executive search and management consulting company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
History
[edit]Heidrick & Struggles was founded in 1953 by Gardner Heidrick and John E. Struggles, both former employees of the management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton.[3][4]
In 1957, Heidrick & Struggles began expanding outside of the Midwest with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City. In 1968, the firm established an office in London, the firm today employs 2,200 people, with offices in 57 cities throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.[4][2][5]
John E. Struggles remained with the firm until his retirement in 1986. Gardner Heidrick, who retired in 1982, died in 2002.[4]
In 1999, the firm became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ.[6]
In 2014, Tracy R. Wolstencroft was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Heidrick & Struggles, a role he held until 2017, when he became Chairman and Krishnan Rajagopalan was named the new Chief Executive Officer.[7] Wolstencroft remained with the firm until 2019.[8]
In 2024, after more than 23 years with the company, Krishnan Rajagopalan stepped down from his role as CEO and President.[9] The Board has appointed Thomas L. Monahan III as his successor, naming him CEO and a member of the Board. Additionally, the Company announced that Tom Murray, Global Managing Partner of Executive Search at Heidrick & Struggles, will take on the role of President.[10] Nirupam Sinha has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer.[11]
Acquisitions
[edit]- In December 2012, Heidrick & Struggles acquired for $53.3 million Senn Delaney.[12]
- In October 2015, Heidrick & Struggles acquired London-based leadership consultancy Co Company.[13]
- In February 2016 the firm acquired Decision Strategies International (DSI).
- In August 2016 it acquired JCA Group, a London-based executive search advisory firm.[14]
- In April 2021 it acquired Business Talent Group (BTG).[15]
- In February 2023, Heidrick & Struggles acquires German consulting firm Atreus.[16]
- In March 2023, Heidrick & Struggles, has entered into an agreement to acquire businessfourzero, a London-based consultancy.[17]
