Dan Moody Sheffield (August 14, 1926 – April 21, 2010), better known by the ring name George Grant was an American professional wrestler and Evangelical preacher.[2][3]
Career
[edit]Sheffield began wrestling during the 1940s, and was best known for using the "Gorgeous George" gimmick, made popular by George Wagner.[4] A creation of promoter Jack Pfefer,[5] he has often been accused of being a copycat of Wagner's gimmick.[6][7]
Following his retirement from professional wrestling, he became an evangelical preacher.[8]

Big money for wrestlers in the days of "Gorgeous George" – 1945 to '71 — meant steak and shrimp cocktail for dinner. [...] "Gorgeous George" is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds – about 30 pounds more than when he was wrestling for the now-defunct American Wrestling Alliance.
