Description
English: Transformation of oleic to stearolic acid by halogenation and double dehydrohalogenation. Chlorination of oleic acid (left) gives dichlorstearic acid (top), bromination gives dibromostearic acid (bottom). Double dehydrohalogenation of either gives stearolic acid (right)
