Summary

Description
English: "An All-American, painting by John Steuart Curry of David N. Schreiner, an All-American end in 1942, who was killed in action on Okinawa in 1945 while serving as a lieutenant with the 6th Marines. He is shown catching a forward pass near the goal line during a football game at Camp Randall. It was originally painted for Abbott Laboratories for use in a magazine they published. Mr. Curry suggested that they present the painting to the University of Wisconsin-Madison athletic department. Schreiner's No. 80 was retired in 1945 and again in 2006 where it adorns the Camp Randall facade with 5 other football heroes." (--Wisconsin Historical Society website)
