(SWICS) determines not only the charge of ions, but also the temperature and speeds of all the major solar wind ions. SWICS covers solar wind speeds ranging from 145 km/s (protons) to 1532 km/s (iron). The information recovered tells scientists about the nature of not only the solar wind, but also of solar flares, ISPs, CIRs, and pickup ions.Français : Instrument du satellite scientifique Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) lancé en 1997.
