Overview

Wananduthi Boda Boda is a non-profit organization based in Nairobi-Kenya, dedicated to the empowerment, welfare, and development of boda boda (motorcycle taxi) riders across the country. With the motto “Culture and Movement,” the organization promotes unity, skills development, economic growth, and advocacy for the rights of riders who play a vital role in Kenya’s transport sector.

History

Wananduthi was founded on 29/10/2023 by John Muinde Kavuti, a visionary young leader and passionate advocate for the rights of informal sector workers. Despite his young age, Kavuti emerged as a bold and determined voice for boda boda riders, having experienced firsthand the challenges they face — including insecurity, lack of proper representation, and limited access to resources or structured development opportunities.

Since its founding, Wananduthi has grown into a community-driven movement, offering boda boda riders a platform to unite, engage, and uplift one another socially and economically.

This rider-owned initiative is more than just a savings and credit platform — it is a powerful tool for economic growth, unity, and sustainability within the boda boda community. Through this SACCO, members now have access to affordable loans, structured savings plans, and business development support tailored specifically for boda boda riders.

With the motto "Together We Move, Further We Go," the SACCO stands as a testament to Wananduthi’s commitment to uplifting its members beyond daily hustles — nurturing dreams, building assets, and creating generational wealth.
