Vasilije Kostov (Serbian Cyrillic: Василије Костов, born 11 May 2008) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Red Star Belgrade.[2]
Career

[edit]Kostov was born in 2008, in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. The young footballer plays as an attacking midfielder. He arrived at the Red Star Belgrade youth school at the age of just seven and went through all the younger categories.[3] He also stood out for his phenomenal shot from distance, and in the Youth eternal derby againts Partizan youth team he scored a great goal, which confirmed the victory of Red Star Belgrade.[4] He proved that he is a player for the big stage in the matches of the UEFA Youth League, and above all against the Barcelona young team. He was not afraid of the challenge in the least, and despite being one of the youngest on the field, he took on the responsibility and with a goal from the penalty spot, an attractive "panenka", once again showed that he has a bright football future ahead of him.[5]
On 14 November 2024, he extended his contract with Red Star Belgrade until 2027.[6]
On 3 January 2025, he was promoted to the first team from Red Star U-19 team.[7]
On 16 January 2025, he made his debut for the first team in a friendly match in Antalya against OFK Beograd.[8]
On 26 February 2025, he was first included in the club's main team's roster for the Serbian SuperLiga match against Železničar Pančevo , but did not appear on the field.[9] On 6 April 2025, he made his debut in the Serbian SuperLiga championship, coming on as a substitute in the match against OFK Beograd.[10][11]
International career
[edit]Born in Serbia, Kostov is of Macedonian descent. He is a youth international for Serbia.[12]
