Sherzod Ikromovich Asadov (born on May 4, 1981) – uzbek diplomat, press secretary to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Biography

Sherzod Asadov was born on May 4, 1981 in the Shofirkon district of the Bukhara region[1]. He graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, specializing in International Economic Relations. Speaks fluently in Russian, English, Spanish and Turkish. Married and has three children.

Career

From 2007 to 2008, worked as a referent and attaché at the Main Directorate for Analysis and Strategy of Foreign Policy Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. From 2008 to 2012, served as attaché, and later, Third Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Singapore. After a long-term assignment, he continued his career in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Thus, between 2012 and 2015, served as second secretary, first secretary, and head of division of the Department for Cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) structures. While serving at the Department for Cooperation with CIS and SCO Structures at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he dealt with matters related to cross-border cooperation. From 2015 to 2017, served as Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and simultaneously headed the Ministry’s Secretariat. In October 2017, was appointed Counselor - Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Austria.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Austria (August 29, 2018–2020). During these years, Sherzod Asadov simultaneously served as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna (IAEA, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, UNIDO and CTBTO)[2].

In 2020, Sherzod Asadov assumed the position of Chairperson of the Economic and Environmental Committee of the OSCE Permanent Council, becoming the first representative of Uzbekistan to chair one of the three OSCE committees.

On March 19, 2020, Asadov was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, overseeing Uzbekistan's cooperation with the UN, OSCE and the European Union.

On March 24, 2021, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev appointed Sherzod Asadov as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of UzbekistanPress Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan[3].

Following the restructuring and the subsequent elimination of the position of Head of the Presidential Administration and its deputies, pursuant to a decree by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on August 17, 2023, Sherzod Asadov continued to serve as the Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan[4].

On July 14, 2025, by decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Asadov was appointed Head of the Communications Department of the Presidential Administration — Press Secretary to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan[5].
