Resident Evil Requiem[a] is an upcoming survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is the ninth main game in the Resident Evil series, following Resident Evil Village (2021).[3] It features a new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who is dispatched to investigate a series of mysterious deaths at a hotel.

Capcom announced Requiem at 2025 Summer Game Fest. It is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

Premise

[edit]

FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft is dispatched to investigate a series of strange deaths at the hotel where her mother died 8 years prior.[4] The story is set in Raccoon City, about 30 years after its destruction in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.[5] Players can switch between first-person or third-person perspectives at any time.[6] Grace is pursued by a monster, similarly to Mr. X and Lady Dimitrescu of previous Resident Evil games.[6]

Development

[edit]

On July 1, 2024, a Capcom Showcase presentation revealed that the next main Resident Evil entry was in development, directed by Koshi Nakanishi.[1] Capcom announced Requiem at Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025, with a release date of February 27, 2026.[7][5][8] The trailer was the show's concluding reveal.[9] The trailer featured the devastated Raccoon City, including the police station of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.[10][8] Resident Evil Requiem was added to over 1 million wishlists across all the platforms it is set for release on.[11] A playable demo will be made available at the 2025 Gamescom convention in August 2025.[12] As with all Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017), Requiem uses the RE Engine.[4]
