Draft:Karnataka Gramin Bank

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karnataka Gramin Bank is an Indian Regional Rural Bank (RRB) operating in the state of Karnataka..[1]. The bank was formed on May 1, 2025, through the amalgamation of Karnataka Gramin Bank and Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank, both sponsored by Canara Bank. [2]. It was formed under the scheme "One State, One RRB" policy in India aims to consolidate Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) within each state, resulting in a single RRB per state. This policy, effective from May 1, 2025, is designed to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and strengthen rural banking services. [3].

History

[edit]

The bank's formation is a result of the merger of two RRBs, which is part of the government's efforts to strengthen the banking system in rural areas. Prior to this merger, Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank was formed in 2013 through the amalgamation of Pragathi Gramin Bank and Krishna Grameena Bank.[4].

Branches and coverage

[edit]

The bank operates in multiple districts of Karnataka, with its head office located at Ballari. Customers can locate nearby branches and ATMs using the bank's website. [5]
