Jim Robison is an AACTA nominated[1] Australian film producer[2][3][4] and the founder of Lunar Pictures[5] Robison produced and executive produced feature films[6] such as Switzerland, Moon Rock for Monday, Never Too Late, The Room Below,[7] and Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan. Robison, according to Deadline Hollywood[8] and Variety[9] has collaborated and produced films with directors including Anton Corbijn[10] (known for A Most Wanted Man and The American) and Alex Proyas[11] (known for The Crow and I, Robot) as reported by IF Magazine and Screen Daily.[12][13][14]
Career

[edit]In 2022, Robison’s production company, Lunar Pictures,[15] acquired the rights to Joanna Murray-Smith's play Switzerland.[16] The screenplay adaptation was penned by Murray-Smith, with Anton Corbijn directing.[17] The film features Oscar winner Helen Mirren as author Patricia Highsmith, alongside Alden Ehrenreich, Olivia Cooke[18] and Juliet Stevenson[19]. Filming commenced in Rome in January 2025, with additional locations in London and Switzerland.[20] Academy Award winning cinematographer Robbie Ryan (Poor Things) is the Director of Photography.[21][22]
The Room Below
[edit]Robison produced The Room Below,[23] a psychological thriller starring, according to Variety and FilmInk magazines Jonathan Rhys Meyers[24] , a Golden Globe winner and Primetime Emmy nominee, as well as Alyssa Sutherland[25].
Other films
[edit]- Moon Rock for Monday (2021): A drama about a terminally ill girl traveling across Australia with a fugitive.[26] The film was screened at international film festivals and had a theatrical release in Australia,[27][28] starred George Pullar, Ashlyn Louden-Gamble, Nicholas Hope and David Field. and was nominated for Best Indie film at the 2021 AACTA Awards.[29] Moon Rock for Monday screened at mutiple film festivals around the world such as the Adelaide Film Festival,[30] Zurich Film Festival,[31] CinefestOz, Beijing international film festival[32] and won the Gold Tripod Toorbos Brendan Barnes SASC NSW by the Australian Cinematographers Society.[33]
- Never Too Late (2020): Robison was executive producer[34] of this comedy-drama featuring James Cromwell and Jacki Weaver, focusing on Vietnam War veterans planning an escape from a nursing home.[35][36]
- Danger Close (2019): A war film depicting the Battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War. Robison served as an executive producer. The film starred Travis Fimmel[37] (Vikings, Warcraft). Robison was an Executive producer of this film, directed by Kriv Stenders after he introduced the producers to licensed corporate brokers who raised private investment for the film.[38]

- FIPRESCI Jury Prize: Moon Rock for Monday received the FIPRESCI Jury Prize at the Schlingel International Film Festival in Germany.[39][40][41]
- AACTA Awards: Robison was the sole producer of Moon Rock for Monday which was nominated for Best Independent Film at the 2021 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.[42][43]
