Jernie Jett Valdecañas Nisay is a Filipino politician and businessman currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines representing the Pusong Pinoy. He began his career in public service as a barangay chairman and later served three consecutive terms as city councilor in Balanga, Bataan from 2010 to 2019. He also served as chief of staff to Congressman Joet Garcia prior to being elected to Congress in 2022.
Early life and education
[edit]Jernie Jett Valdecañas Nisay was born on October 29, 1983, in Balanga City, Bataan, Philippines. He completed his primary education at Cupang Elementary School. He later began his public service career as a barangay captain before being elected to the Balanga City Council.
Career

[edit]Nisay was elected councilor of Balanga City in 2010, serving three terms until 2019. As a councilor, he was involved in various community programs focused on public health, social services, and livelihood development.
Congressional staff
[edit]From 2019 to 2022, Nisay served as chief of staff to Bataan 2nd District Representative Joet Garcia. During his tenure, he witnessed the increased demand for medical assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, which inspired him to advocate for accessible and responsive health services.
House of Representatives
[edit]In the 2022 elections, Nisay was elected as the first nominee of the Pusong Pinoy Party-list, securing a seat in the 19th Congress. He pledged to focus on healthcare legislation and social welfare programs, especially for marginalized communities.[1]
He was reelected in the 2025 elections for the 20th Congress. Nisay expressed gratitude to the 266,623 supporters who voted for the party-list and reaffirmed his commitment to improving public access to education, health, and livelihood services.
