Draft:Jagriti Agrawal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jagriti Agrawal is an entrepreneur who, at just the age of 25, cofounded Kira Learning. Kira Learning is an online coding school with over 10,000 users, making coding more accessible and engaging to learn.[1]. This is incredibly important as coding becomes increasingly more important for the future of corporations, the future of of our daily lives, and the future as a whole.

Early Life

[edit]

Jagriti was originally interested in chemistry, first struggling with the subject before falling in love with it as she studied harder to improve her grade. She recognized how difficult the learning process could be as well as the joy of overcoming that hurdle. This experience both taught her the importance of hard work and the importance of education.[2]

Education

[edit]

Jagriti attended California Technical Institute from 2013-2017 for her undergraduate program, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.[3] . This was a hard pivot from her original major in Chemistry, but she had quickly become more interested in computer science, a subject she originally knew little about as her high school did not offer those kinds of classes. "“I was excited by all the different things I could create by coding,” said Jagriti. “I started to enjoy the challenge of coming up with a solution to all different sorts of problems by being able to communicate with a computer.”"[2]. After working for four years at NASA, Jagriti would revisit academia from 2020-2022 at Stanford University where she would pursue a Master of Business Administration[3]. This was in tandem with the formation of Kira Learning in 2021.

Prior Careers

[edit]

Directly after graduating from Caltech, Jagriti became the AI Group Technical Product Manager in the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In her four years at NASA, she would work on "algorithm and software development for the automation and optimization of the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover ground scheduling system"[3]. This software would determine how to schedule the rover's tasks in order to accomplish every goal while also pre-reacting to unpredictable issues such as dust devils. Her work focused heavily on Artificial Intelligence, and implementing it in the rover to make its own decisions and "do more tasks if it had enough time."[2]

Kira Learning

[edit]

In 2021, Jagriti and Andrew Pasinetti (a fellow Stanford alum) cofounded Kira Learning, in which she serves as Director of AI Applications[4]. Her responsibilities revolve around "leading the development of content and curriculum; Improving our autograding capabilities and how we can give better feedback to students more effectively using AI; And teaching"[4] . The Palo Alto based business allows students to familiarize themselves with these increasingly meaningful topics, making them stronger creators of code and AI as well as more ethical consumers. Kira Learning as a business is also incredibly successful, receiving a $75 million valuation and earning over $2.5 million in the first half of 2024 alone[1].

Accolades

[edit]

While Kira Learning was flourishing, in 2024 they were even able to unveil a new AI Teacher Assistant, Jagriti Agrawal herself was also thriving. She was part of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in the category of Consumer Technology[1]
