JIM is a mobile-payment (tap-to-pay) and financial-technology platform developed by CloudWalk. Designed for individual entrepreneurs and very small businesses, the application combines an artificial-intelligence (AI) assistant with tap-to-pay card acceptance and same-day settlement of funds.[1] JIM was unveiled by CloudWalk founder and chief executive officer Luis Silva on 16 April 2024 during Web Summit Rio, ahead of an initial roll-out in the United States.[2] TechCrunch lists Jim.com among CloudWalk’s flagship consumer brands in Latin America’s high-valuation startup landscape.[3]
Background
[edit]The technology that underpins JIM was first proven in InfinitePay , CloudWalk’s domestic merchant-services platform launched in 2019. InfinitePay serves more than two million Brazilian merchants and, in January 2024, reported coverage in all 5 570 municipalities of the country.[4] CloudWalk disclosed revenue of US$ 320 million for 2023, attributing part of the growth to InfinitePay’s tap-to-pay technology.[5]
Technology and features
[edit]JIM turns any device equipped with near-field communication (NFC) into a payment terminal that accepts contactless credit and debit cards as well as mobile wallets, eliminating the need for dedicated point-of-sale hardware. The AI component offers contextual guidance and analytics, and the platform credits each sale to the merchant’s bank account in real time—an approach comparable to Brazil’s instant-payment network, Pix.
Market strategy
[edit]CloudWalk positions JIM for the United States, noting that real-time-payment infrastructure there remains limited even after the July 2023 launch of the FedNow Service.[6][7] Industry statistics compiled by the U.S. Federal Reserve show that core non-cash payments in the country totalled US$ 128.5 trillion in 2021, up 9.5 percent from 2018.[8] By comparison, Brazil’s Central Bank recorded R$ 50.6 trillion (≈ US$ 10 trillion) in retail-payment transactions during the first half of 2023.[9]
Development and availability
[edit]A pilot programme with selected U.S. merchants began in the second quarter of 2024. According to its listing on the Apple App Store, the application is now publicly available for download nationwide across the United States.[10] CloudWalk has stated its intention to broaden distribution further during 2025.[11]
Integration with InfinitePay
[edit]In April 2025 CloudWalk embedded an evolved version of the JIM assistant into InfinitePay, describing it as “an extra employee” for small businesses. The update automates tasks such as marketing-campaign creation, social-media content generation and basic business consulting.[12]
