ConnectWise is an American software company that develops information technology management tools for managed service providers (MSPs) and IT departments. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the company was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in 2019 for around $1.5 billion.[1][2][3][4]

Overview

[edit]

ConnectWise was founded in 1982 by brothers Arnie Bellini and David Bellini as a computer consulting company serving small and medium-sized businesses in the Tampa Bay area.[5] During its first two decades, the company focused primarily on providing direct IT services to local businesses. In the early 2000s, ConnectWise began transitioning from service provision to software development, creating business automation solutions specifically designed for MSPs and IT solution providers.[6][2]

Over the years, ConnectWise expanded its product offerings through several acquisitions. In 2010, it acquired LabTech Software, a provider of remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.[7] This was followed by the acquisition of ScreenConnect in 2015, which added remote support capabilities. ConnectWise operates on a subscription-based model with tiered pricing for its software and services. The company also supports integrations with third-party platforms and provides a partner program that includes training and marketing resources.[8]

In 2019, ConnectWise acquired Continuum, a managed IT services platform. The company later acquired Perch Security in 2020, and in 2024, it purchased Axcient and SkyKick to expand its data protection and cloud management portfolio.[3] In the same year, the company was acquired by Thoma Bravo.[1][9]

The ConnectWise Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, supports initiatives in areas such as technology education, youth mentorship, veterans’ support, and environmental sustainability. In addition, the company also launched Asio, a centralized platform that unifies several of its products to streamline solutions for MSPs.[10] In 2025, ConnectWise and IT Nation partnered to launch PitchIT, a startup accelerator program that awards funding to technology ventures serving the MSP market.[11][12][13][14]
