Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. Bard Idle is an incremental role-playing game that combines elements of idle gameplay with strategic party-building and character progression. The game has gained a dedicated following for its deep mechanics, extensive customization, and long-term progression system. The game was released on September 22, 2022 by Ilegal Turtle. It's free to download from Steam but has in-game purchases available. As of January, 2025, the game is still in early access. According to Steam, "Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further."[1]
Gameplay
[edit]Bard Idle is an idle/incremental RPG where players build a party of adventurers and send them into increasingly difficult combat zones. While the game runs automatically, players are responsible for assembling a well-balanced team, selecting class synergies, upgrading abilities, and refining strategies over time. Progression in Bard Idle is tied to gaining experience, collecting notes (a key currency in the game), harmonizing abilities, and unlocking new upgrades. Players can equip their characters with various weapons, including katanas and bows, which enhance their combat capabilities. The game features a system of continuous improvement, where players refine their party setup to reach new zone milestones, with the highest zone being 600.
The game uses terminology inspired by music, such as "harmonization" and "notes," to describe game mechanics like party synergy and resource generation. However, its core gameplay revolves around combat, optimization, and long-term growth rather than rhythm or musical timing.
Players can choose from dozens of unique character classes, such as the Lich, Butterfly Mage, Master of Candle, and Cheese Mage. Each class plays a specific role in the party and evolves over time with training, equipment, and harmonization bonuses. Players often leave the game running in the background, returning periodically to refine strategies, upgrade characters, or push into new zones.
