Boyy, stylized in all caps BOYY is an American fashion brand co-founded in 2006 by Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman. Initially known for handbags featuring oversized buckles, the brand has since expanded its offerings to include footwear, accessories, and ready-to-wear items. Headquartered in Milan and Bangkok, Boyy operates retail locations and is stocked by international fashion retailers.[1]
History
[edit]Boyy was founded in New York City in 2006 by Canadian musician Jesse Dorsey and Thai designer Wannasiri Kongman. The pair began collaborating on handbag designs from Dorsey's apartment. Their debut collection was picked up by retailers including Colette and Barneys New York.[2]
In 2012, Boyy opened its first standalone boutique in Bangkok, followed by a flagship store in Copenhagen in 2015.[3] The company later expanded its operations to Europe while maintaining a business presence in Asia.
Design Philosophy
[edit]Boyy's designs often incorporate structured silhouettes and utilitarian elements. The brand has cited influences from both masculine and feminine design tropes, which is reflected in the naming of products such as the “Karl,” “Fred,” and “Bobby” bags. Oversized buckles have become a recurring motif across several of the brand’s collections.[4]
Media Coverage
[edit]Boyy products have appeared in street style photography during international fashion weeks, including events in Copenhagen and Paris.[5] The brand has been featured in fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle, and The Business of Fashion. [6][7][8]
Products from the brand have also been worn by public figures and entertainers. For example, Thai singer and performer Lisa Manoban from Blackpink has featured Boyy items on her social media.[9]
Collaborations and projects
[edit]In 2019, Boyy collaborated with the luxury e-commerce platform Mytheresa on a capsule collection that included handbags, footwear, and accessories made from raffia and leather.[10]
In 2025, the brand participated in design-related programming during Milan’s Fuorisalone, positioning itself at the intersection of fashion and contemporary design.[11]
Retail
[edit]Boyy operates flagship stores in Bangkok and Copenhagen.[12]
Products are distributed through a number of multi-brand retailers globally, including online and department store platforms.
