[edit]Arina Aamir Sheikh was born on 23 June 2005 in Oslo, Norway is the youngest elected councilor in Oslo ever, elected for the Conservative Party (Hoyre).
Raised in Stovner, she grew up in a politically engaged household. From a young age she was drawn to social issues, joining youth platforms and debates in her community.
At age 12, she became an author and launched her first book about her experiences as a young Muslim in Norway, signaling an early passion for public debate and representation. She has also been the Development Minister in Norway in occasion "Girls Takeover" in 2020, and is one of the 30 under 30 leading stars by the business newspaper Dagens Næringsliv & D2.
She also has one of the biggest political and news podcasts in Norway with businessman and entrepenur, Christian Ringnes which is called "Rett på".
Political Career

[edit]Arina began her political journey with Unge Høyre (the Conservative Youth) at the age of 14 years. She took leadership roles, notably serving as deputy leader of Aker Unge Høyre at the age of 15 years.
At 18, she made history by being elected as Oslo’s youngest ever city council (bystyre) representative in autumn 2023 where she is elected until 2027. Her civic platform prioritizes preventing youth exclusion, fostering school quality and inclusion, and ensuring opportunities across socio-economic divides .
Stand on Key Issues & Youth Advocacy
[edit]Aamir became a national face in the public debate in Norway when she in 2020 at the age of 15 years old dared to meet the leader of the Islamophobic organization, SIAN face to face in a live debate at the News Channel TV2 to discuss Quran burning.
Across debates and writings, Aamir has addressed topics including youth crime, school support systems, minority integration, and drug abuse among teens. She has collaborated with NGOs like Plan International during the “Girls Takeover” initiative, even momentarily serving as a “development minister” to spotlight issues such as child marriage and poverty globally.
She has also worked in IFRC in Geneva for some time, been in Manchester to learn about youth criminality and intergration, and been seen with a number of prominent people such as Noble Peace Price winner, Malala Yousufzai, General-director in the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Norwegian Royal Family and both sitting and former Prime Ministers in Norway and Pakistan.
National Ambitions
[edit]She announced candidacy for Oslo’s Conservative list ahead of the 2025 parliamentary election, aiming to become the youngest-ever elected Member of the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) . If elected, she would break records and become the youngest elected parliamentarian in Norway ever.
Podcast and Media Work
[edit]In May 2025, at age 19, she launched the political podcast Rett på alongside businessman and entrepenur Christian Ringnes (aged 71). The show blends cross-generational perspectives on public policy, international affairs, youth issues, and defense—with a focus on building bridges across parties and opinions Framtida.
She oversaw guest selection and show direction, bringing in figures like Yama Wolasmal, Espen Aas, Kjell-Magne Bondevik, Sylvi Listhaug, Abid Raja, and Marte Gerhardsen.
Public Advocacy & Recognition
[edit]Aamir has been an outspoken advocate against hate speech, particularly combating digital threats and hatred often directed at young female politicians.
