Abrar Mir is a British entrepreneur and investor, known for his contributions to healthcare investment in Asia.[1][2]
Based in Singapore, he is the co-founder and managing partner of Quadria Capital, Asia's healthcare-focused private equity firm.[3][4]
Mir is also the co-founder of HealthQuad, a healthcare venture capital firm.[5]
Early life and education
[edit]Abrar Mir was raised in London, where he attended The Heathland School in West London. He later attended Queens' College, University of Cambridge, earning a graduate degree in International law. His time at Cambridge honed his analytical and strategic thinking skills, providing the foundation for a career spanning multiple disciplines.[6]
Career

[edit]Mir began his professional career at CMS, an international law firm in London, where he worked as a trainee solicitor in the corporate finance practice. His increasing interest in healthcare and finance led him to transition into investment banking. In 1995, Mir joined Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup), specializing in healthcare investment banking. Mir's expertise in this sector allowed him to thrive in London and New York, contributing to strategic transactions in the healthcare industry. In 2002, Mir was appointed Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (now BofA Securities) in London.[7]
Transition to Asia
[edit]Mir relocated to Singapore to join Religare Capital Markets (now Religare Enterprises) as the Global Head of Healthcare Investment Banking.[8] Under his leadership, the firm expanded its footprint in Emerging Markets, with a focus on South and Southeast Asia, building a strong presence in the region's rapidly growing healthcare sector.[9][10]
Quadria Capital and HealthQuad
[edit]In 2012, Abrar Mir co-founded Quadria Capital with Dr. Amit Varma, establishing a private equity firm with a singular focus on healthcare investments in Asia.[11]
Under their leadership, Quadria Capital has become Asia's largest healthcare private equity firm, managing over US$4 billion in assets.[3] The firm has invested in more than 30 portfolio companies, which employ over 53,000 people and collectively impact the lives of more than 230 million individuals.[12][13][14]
Mir is very involved in the day-to-day running of the company. He is on the investment committee and serves on the boards of several important portfolio companies, such as Medica Synergie[15] Soho Global Health,[16] FV Hospitals,[17] Hermina Hospitals,[18] KPJ Lablink[19] and Orilus Investment Holdings.
Mir is also the co-founder of HealthQuad, India's largest healthcare venture capital firm with assets of US$280 million.[20][21]
Philanthropy
[edit]Beyond healthcare, Mir supports various charities and initiatives like Future First, a UK-based charity dedicated to improving educational opportunities for underprivileged children. Mir sponsors an annual prize at his alumnus, The Heathland School, for the outstanding student who demonstrates ingenuity and self-discipline in an extended project.[22]
